In <Keynote Session>, SFC offers lectures and discussions lead by top domestic and international scholars to respond to the climate crisis and sustainable planet. Dagomar Degroot, a professor of history at Georgetown University, analyzes climate change in history and gives a lecture on climate elasticity through the case of East Rome during the Ice Age. Jong-ho Hong, a professor at Seoul National University's Graduate School of Environment, Frank Rijsberman, Secretary-General of the Global Green Growth Institute, Yu-jin Lee, Green New Deal special adviser of Prime Minister’s Office and Won-jun Kim, Dean of KAIST Graduate School of Technology and Management, will present specific climate change countermeasures and resilient growth strategies.

Dr. Dagomar Degroot was born in 1985 in Raamsdonksveer, Netherlands. He moved to Canada in 1985 and received a bachelor's degree in history and English from McMaster University in 2007. After earning a master's degree in history from McMaster in 2008, he received a doctorate from York University in 2014, completed a year of post-doctoral research at the University of Western Ontario, and became an assistant professor at Georgetown University in 2015. It co-founded the Climate History Network, an organization of scholars who studied climate change in the past, and established a popular website HistoricalClimatology.com that explains why studying climate change is important today. In 2018, he published a book called "The Frigid Golden Age," which claims that the Netherlands' predecessor, the Republic of the Netherlands, was resilient and adaptable to the cold climate period known to consume. The book was selected by the Financial Times as one of the top 10 history books of the year 2018.

Hong, Jong Ho is a Professor of Economics and former Dean of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University (SNU). His teaching and research are focused on environmental/energy economics and sustainable economy and policy. His involvement within the school extends to serving as the former Director of the Environmental Planning Institute and the Institute for Sustainable Development. Before his career at SNU, he held research and academic positions at Korea Development Institute (KDI) and Hanyang University, after receiving his Ph.D. at Cornell University. He also has broad experience working as a consultant for international organizations, such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, and has previously served as the President of the Korea Environmental Economics Association and Korean Association of Public Finance. Currently, he serves as the President of the Asian Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (AAERE), Chairman of the Energy Transition Forum of Korea, Co-President of the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement, and policy advisor to the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Dr. Frank Rijsberman leads the Global Institute for Green Growth (GGGI) that helps governments’ transition to an environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economic growth model. With more than 30 years of experience in addressing environmental sustainability and poverty reduction issues with leading international organizations and charities, Dr. Rijsberman was first appointed Secretary-General of the Institute on October 1, 2016 and was reappointed for the second time from October 1, 2020. In his position, he worked with senior international stakeholders to help drive green growth agendas and mobilize funds for climate action and sustainable development. As an advocate for sustainable development Dr. Rijsberman focuses on helping GGGI members and partner-governments implement national decision contributions (NDCs) and achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) under the Paris Agreement.

Yu Jin Lee is conducting research and various activities on the topic of climate crisis response and region-based energy conversion. After 8,9,10th members of the Green Growth Committee, she is currently a member of the Carbon Neutral Committee and participated in the establishment of the 2050 Carbon Neutrality Scenario and the 2030 GHG Reduction Target. Dr.Lee is a co-representative of the National Network for Regional Energy Transformation and also a general policy advisor for the Green New Deal in Gwangju. Since 1999, Dr.Lee has served in the Green Coalition of Environmental Groups for over a decade, and in 2012 she joined the Founding Party of the Green Party and served as a co-operation chairman. Her academic interests include making Korea an inclusive society while transitioning to a decarbonized one.

Professor Kim Won-joon is the director of KAIST Graduate School of Technology and a professor of KAIST's Department of Technology Management, and is working hard on fostering and researching talent in industrial future strategies, technological innovation strategies, and scientific technology policies. He is the director of KAIST Innovation Strategy Research Institute, which researches the future strategy of Korea's industry and economy, the director of KAIST Social Science Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Research Group, and the professor of KAIST Bio Innovation Management Program. Professor Kim is working to expand the development and base of the Korean science and technology community as a vice chairman of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies chairman of the Future Generation Committee, and a full member of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology's policy field. Furthermore, he founded the Asia Innovation and Entrepreneurship with scholars from major universities in the U.S. and he promotes the development of the international community through science and technology innovation policies. Currently, His academic interests include technology innovation strategies, policies, industrial strategies, science and technology policies, artificial intelligence social science applications, and data-based social science.

Professor Ian Goldin is a former vice president of the World Bank, a professor at Oxford University, and a world-renowned scholar with practical experience and academic depth in the fields of "globalization and development," and established and operated Oxford Martin School, an interdisciplinary research institute seeking solutions to urgent issues facing the world in the 21st century. Born in South Africa, Goldin has a BA (Hons) and a BSc from the University of Cape Town, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a Doctorate from the University of Oxford. He was a senior economist of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a director of the OECD Development Center Program and later took a post as Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Development Bank of Southern Africa and served as an economic adviser to President Nelson Mandela from 1996 to 2001, leading economic development of South Africa after apartheid. He led the Bank's collaboration with the United Nations and other partners and, as Director of Development Policy, played a pivotal role in the research and strategy agenda of the Bank. In 2006, he moved to Oxford University and served as the founding director of Martin School, which continues research for future generations, he is currently the Oxford University Professor of Globalisation and Development, Senior Fellow at the Oxford Martin School, Director of the Oxford Martin Programme on Technological and Economic Change and a Professorial Fellow at the University’s Balliol College.

Dae Shik Kim, a professor of electrical and electronic engineering at KAIST, received a doctorate in brain science from the Max-Plank Institute of Brain Sciences in Germany, and went through post-doctoral courses at MIT in the U.S.. Since then, he has served as a researcher at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) in Japan, an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota in the United States, and an associate professor at Boston University. He is mainly studying brain science, brain engineering, MRI, and artificial intelligence. He published many books such as <Dae-shik Kim's Keywords: 34 Questions That Open Up the Future>, <Hyper-Acceleration: Questions from the New World to Korea>, <Science to Read Humans>, <How to Ask>, <Kim Dae-shik's Human vs Machine>, and <Brain Science in Wonderland>.

The 2021 core trend paradigm analyzed by the 2021 Seoul Future Conference is ‘the emergence of a new world’. Hyung-wook Choi, CEO of Future Designers, studied electronic engineering and computer networks at the University of Southern California (USC). He researched new technologies such as wireless networks, sensors, and displays for 10 years at Samsung Electronics. He developed an innovative mobile device selected for TIME's 'The Gadget of the Year 2018' and co-CEO of Internet of Things platform company 'Magic Eco' and is planning and implementing a variety of innovation projects along with strategic advice to accelerate innovation of companies. In addition, for the upcoming Metaverse era, he launched 'Gillian Technology', an XR hardware platform startup. He co-founded Pan Asia Network for the era of innovation and cooperation from Asia with innovators from more than 20 cities in Asia, and as a future designer of Future Designers, he presents the future image and value of new technology and good influence. Choi applied for about 50 domestic and foreign patents related to Internet of Things, mobile devices, UX innovation, wireless communication and network, and new services, specializing in innovation in new technologies, platform strategies, hardware ecosystems, and business model innovation.

Professor Zhouying Jin graduated from the Chinese University of Science and Technology (USTC). She has served at the CASS since 1988, including researchers at the Institute of Mechanical Sciences (CAS), researchers at the Institute of Defense Science and Technology, deputy director of the Electrical and Industrial Administration, and vice chairman of the China National Economic Commission. Key areas of her recent research are soft technology, soft environment, future research, long-term strategy management, and innovation. Over the past few decades, she has led more than 30 critical projects and provided consulting and diagnostics to more than 40 medium to large companies requested by central governments, CASS, international organizations and companies. Through this research and practice, she developed the "China 2050 and Early Warning System" model. She also improved the design of "Long-Term Strategic Management System Integrated Model-I and Model-II" suitable for green development, introduction of "Beyond GDP" according to international standards, and deployment quality against GDP. Professor Koo received his doctorate in sociology at Stanford University, the United States, also served as an exchange professor at Harvard-Yenching Institute. He was a consultant of policy for the national institution, such as the Ministry of Justice, Economy and Finance, and the Office of Government Policy Coordination, the National Police Agency, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea as well. Recently, he is serving as a director of the Human Rights Development Center at Sungkyunkwan University in Korea, and also a vice-president of Korean Association of Human Rights Studies and Policy Development. In addition, he is a member of the deliberation council for gender equality in Seoul Central District Court. Not only his book, called “Can the human right be discriminated?”, was nominated as a juvenile book for the year 2019, but also he is actively writing columns for the Kukmin Daily and giving lectures. Moreover, with Professor Diamond, he is lecturing at Sungkyunkwan University. Furthermore, he is currently working on several projects that investigate the determining factors of human rights attitudes, the mechanism for allocating foreign aid, the adoption of Korean companies' social responsibility norms, and the formation of human rights in Korea.

Professor Kim graduated from Korea University's Graduate School of Psychology and received a doctorate from the University of Texas-Austin Department of Psychology in the U.S. Under the leadership of Professor Art Markman, a world scholar in cognitive psychology, he studied human judgment, decision-making, problem-solving and creativity. He is currently a professor of psychology at Ajou University. Recently, not only education field, but also many companies such as Samsung, LG, SK, GS, he is actively giving lectures and consultings to share the principles of thought with more people. Numerous people, fascinated by his new insights, are still flooded with requests for encore lectures. He have also published more than 60 papers in renowned domestic and international journals, and was appointed as tenured professors early on by Ajou university. Also, his lectures are always crowded with students from various majors and have been selected as ‘The Best Lecture' several times as he provides insight to apply cognitive psychological knowledge to other fields through participation in various broadcasting programs such as MBC and tvN, co-authorship and active lectures.
